The Boston Red Sox appear headed to their first salary arbitration hearing in nearly a decade, unable to work out an agreement so far with designated hitter David Ortiz. The Red Sox have offered $12.65 million for the upcoming season, barely above what Ortiz earned last year.

Right-hander Alfredo Aceves and the Boston Red Sox have agreed to a $1.2 million, one-year contract that avoided salary arbitration.
